What is CityMyst?

CityMyst is a platform for gamified urban adventures: outdoor escape rooms, scavenger hunts, tourist trails and team experiences played on your phone across a real city. Each adventure turns the streets into a game board, combining geolocation (GPS), QR codes, augmented reality, 360° scenes, audio clues and mini-games.

You play straight from your browser —or by installing the app— with nothing heavy to download. Play solo or as a team, at your own pace whenever you like or at a scheduled event with a host. As you progress you earn points, medals and ranking positions.

Types of adventure

All adventures share the same game engine; what changes is the focus and the style of the challenges. These are the formats:

Urban escape

The city is your escape room. The focus is on solving puzzles chained together through a mystery: decoding clues, combining objects, reading your surroundings and unravelling a story. It rewards deduction and the satisfaction of cracking each riddle to move on.

Scavenger hunt

A trail of simple, varied challenges spread across different points of the city. Here the focus isn’t big puzzles but clearing quick, dynamic tasks —reaching a place, scanning a QR, a mini-game, a photo—. Fast, fun and perfect for groups.

Tourist trail

A guided walk through points of interest with informative content. Calmer and more cultural: the goal is to discover places and learn about them as you play.

Team building

Designed for groups and companies: cooperative challenges that encourage collaboration and team communication over individual competition.

Educational

Gamified didactic content, ideal for schools or training activities that want to teach through play.

In short: if you want to rack your brains with puzzles, pick an Urban escape; if you want fast fun with simple challenges, a Scavenger hunt.
